Punters go back to the Emerald in 2022

This year saw the punters return to the Emerald hotel in South Melbourne. This came about on the back of a voting system never before seen. For example 'Pub or races'. Also there was no voter fraud or foreign interference. It was also pleasing to see that no one blamed the war in Ukraine for us ending up in the Pub.

The pub opened at 12 with most of us there by 12.30pm, except for one who shall remain nameless strolled in half way through the day.

Betting wise we started off in our usual style, that is, not having a collect. Then about race 3 an early Christmas miracle happened, we had a nice collect from an exacta. Again like other years there was a look in everyones eyes a glimmer of hope if you will the eyes were saying 'could this be our year'. After a few nervous high fives and looking up how to spell win, we settled back in to our usual routine of rolling up tickets and throwing to floor in disgust.

Then things took a twist with a possible coup over throw the president, who it must be said was 'more confused than Joe Biden trying to leave a press conference' with our betting plan. The coup never eventuated with the prez having a couple of strong backers. While the would be traitors realised one of them would have to run the show.

at the end of the day we had a few collects and left the pub with around $1100, all well fed and full of drink, especially one punter who shall remain nameless.

Next stop was the House of pain for more drinks, laughs and food and to blast off the last remaining few hundred dollars.
